About us
The Art Press Caravan arose from a shared love and a need to make life more meaningful, better and more whole. The words of the ancient proverb "Navigare necesse est, vivere non est necesse" (one need not live, but one must sail) are the sails of a unique project of the art of living that celebrates the value of travel: through oneself, through countries and through the cosmos.
With a new and holistic approach, the caravan promotes tourism, the culture and art of the world's different peoples, spirituality and traditional approaches to maintaining health, gastronomic and wine offerings, wellness and spa retreats, as a new way of life, from the Balkans to the most distant destinations. The caravan follows the trace of nature, tradition and spirituality, and writes about the signs along the road, the transcending of borders and the journey toward oneself.
The founding
The Art Press Caravan was born on 25 May 2012 under the slogan "from Triglav to Vardar, from the Balkans to the ocean", at the foot of Triglav, when it visited one of Slovenia's tourist jewels — Bled. Its name came from the original membership of artists and representatives of many media houses, and the word "caravan" was added as the denominator of a travelling company gathered around a single goal.
The "Cultures of the World" association
The Art Press Caravan is the conceptual project of the "Cultures of the World" association, founded in April 2003 as a non-partisan, non-governmental and non-profit citizens' association, with the aim of getting to know, creatively exploring and presenting through multimedia the cultural heritage of the world's different peoples.
Goals of the association
- organising cultural and artistic programmes in cooperation with diplomatic missions, cultural centres, art schools and academies
- work on multimedia projects that encourage the creativity and artistic inclinations of young people
- launching workshops and courses for better information and professional development in segments of different countries' cultures
- cooperation on joint projects with independent artistic groups and cultural institutions at home and abroad
- organising festivals in the field of culture, and domestic and international gatherings of artists
- promoting the cultural heritage of our country through intercultural cooperation and the exchange of artists
- publishing magazines and bulletins reporting on the association's work and promoting tourism and cultural heritage
- organising study trips for members and friends to promote tourism and culture
Projects and activities
From the project "Music of the World" (2002), a cycle of ethno evenings accompanied by dance, exhibitions and the gastronomy of the cultures of Africa, Asia, South America and Europe, through the Ethno Art Festival (2004) and the dance performance "Shadows" (premiered at the 39th Bitef), to the founding of the Art Press Caravan in 2012. The caravan has travelled almost the whole region — Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Republika Srpska and Montenegro — and destinations "from the Balkans to the ocean": Turkey, Hungary, Italy, America and the Caribbean.
